HOME

Belfast, County Antrim

Home started life as a pop-up restaurant in an off-the-beaten track location in Belfast City Centre in 2011. Initially for three months, the pop-up venture was an instant hit with foodies so much so that the restaurant extended its tenure for almost a year, before taking up a permanent home in its current location of Belfast’s Wellington Place close to the magnificent City Hall.

The New York style of high ceilings, exposed columns, stainless steel shelving, chalkboard menus and dark wooden floors and table-tops recreates a welcoming atmosphere, a home from home. And like the pop-up it has many previously loved and up-cycled interior items available for purchase alongside works of art by local artists. Home serves feel good food and we cook to make our customers happy. On the menu you’ll find old favourites from when we began of hot and sour Asian chicken broth or whipped goats cheese with candied walnuts alongside seasonal dishes and specials from the new ingredients that are delivered into our kitchen.

To eat in or to take-away from our deli or when dining in our restaurant, our menu is often described as balanced. You’ll find lots of exceptional healthy dishes using grains and pulses, locally produced rapeseed oil packed full of omegas and very little butter or cream. A large colourful veggie and vegan menu as well as a selection of gluten free options alongside everyday staples of a great pulled pork sandwich, ribeye with chips or a truly indulgent beef burger and wide selection of fresh fish and shellfish brought in from the local ports around Northern Ireland.

The food at home is vibrant and bold yet familiar and comforting making our customers happy and our team proud. Made fresh every day, free from preservatives and colourings, we always try to source our foods locally from Northern Ireland or as close to home as we can.

Home is proud to be working with so many small, local, artisan food producers who are behind much of what the chefs do in the Home kitchen. We source meats from farms we can trust such as Hannan Meats and our fruit and vegetables from local farmer Drew Frazer. In this home, we promote local and seasonal ingredients and everything is delivered to us fresh daily. Our larder, an epicure’s delight, is vast and the menu ever changing.

Ben Arnold is the head chef at Home. He has been at the helm from day one. Throughout his career he has picked up numerous accolades including the prestigious Robbie Millar Scholarship, Young Irish Chef of the Year and represented Great Britain on the junior team at the World Culinary Olympics.

The restaurant is award winning picking up amongst others the coveted Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide. The ‘Bib’ indicates a restaurant offering good food at moderate prices.

You’ll find a diverse range of people dining with us from locals, tourists and die-hard foodies. From noon through to late, the restaurant serves a full menu with waiter service. Home is fully licensed and has an extensive and affordable wine and drinks list. Home really is feel good food.
