THE CLARENCE

Dublin, County Dublin

The Clarence boasts fifty bedrooms and suites, along with our world famous Penthouse Suite. Our rooms range from Classic through Deluxe and on to our River View and Garden Terrace Suites. Our furnishings are simple: classic Shaker oak, beds dressed in cool white linen, sitting elegantly in contrast to a palate of vibrant cardinal colours, rich drapes and luxe carpets.  We aim to provide all the simple needs of our guests and we offer ‘round the clock room service and all rooms have complimentary WiFi as standard. Our city centre location means car space is at a premium, but we do have a small underground car park that can be reserved for a small nightly supplement. It is also worth noting that our location does mean that the area can be lively at night, especially at the weekends and while we have taken every effort to reduce noise, it is not possible to block it all out. Please do consider this before booking.

Within the hotel complex there are many drinking and dining experiences, from the chilled out bliss of The Study to the super stylish Octagon Bar, the perfect spot for an afternoon cocktail or a laid back nightcap. We also have Michelin star chef Oliver Dunne’s Cleaver East restaurant within our walls and we are very proud that Oliver and his team provide all catering at the hotel, so whether it’s a late night bite in your room or a Full Irish breakfast the next morning, you know your food will be of the highest standard, made from the freshest produce, closely cared for by Michelin starred hands. In the bowels of our building you will find the luxurious cocktail and food bar The Liquor Rooms, home to Dublin’s arts set and the first ROI bar ever to be nominated in the prestigious Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. On our first floor, overlooking the River Liffey lies The Cleaver East Suite at The Clarence, which can be reserved for special occasions, from large weddings to intimate business meetings. When you stay at The Clarence, you are right smack bang in the middle of Dublin city, at the edge of Temple Bar that is fast becoming a Cultural Quarter, sitting in harmony with the Temple Bar that is known worldwide for its wild late night party atmosphere. Within a stumble of the hotel you’ll find theatre spaces, art galleries, arthouse cinema, dive bars, concert venues, quirky independent coffee bars serving up the finest brews, underground comedy clubs, cocktail edgy Irish design shops and boutiques offering beautiful contemporary Irish clothing and fabulous upcycled jewellery, original art works, unique gift ideas, thoroughly modern pieces, a far cry from the picture postcard Ireland of old. There are vintage shops, tattoo and piercing parlours, barbershops hosted in vinyl stores, risqué fetish shops, micro-breweries and restaurants serving food from across the world – Texan to Cuban, Mongolian to Ethiopian, Italian, Spanish and of course modern Irish cuisine at its finest. You are in a microcosm of contemporary, multicultural, multifaceted Ireland, where we have embraced a global sensibility while ferociously retaining our Irishness.

A little further afield Dublin city awaits – Trinity College, who’s alumni numbers poets, presidents, actors and agitators, The James Joyce Centre, Dublinia, The Natural History Museum, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Ireland and The Little Museum of Dublin. Explore the Guinness Storehouse, take a hop on, hop off tour bus, jump on the Viking Splash Tour or take a barge along our canals. You can order a picnic at reception and head off to Stephen’s Green in the heart of our big brand shopping district or spend the day spotting deer in Phoenix Park, the largest urban park in Europe and home to Dublin Zoo.

Staying at The Clarence is like staying with a close friend who knows the ins and outs of the city, whether you simply want to relax close by or venture out past the boundaries of The Pale. Just tell us what you like to do and we can build an itinerary for you, be it a week long holiday, a weekend break or a one night stay. We are here to ensure that your stopover at The Clarence is an experience that will live on in the memory long after your flight has landed back on home soil.
